The Big Picture

Hello lovely readers!

This post is going to be focusing on an idea to which i have used and found very useful when babysitting and would be useful to those with children or babysitters alike for the rainy days over the summer and thought i would share it :)
I call it "The Big Picture" and it is a craft related activity that you can keep coming back to so keep on reading if this interests you.

Things you will need:
  • Roll of paper
  • Pens, Markers, Crayons...etc - This is your choice depending on the age of the child you can use wax crayons or paint...etc.
  • Scissors
  • Adhesive
  • Paper shapes
  • Plain Sticker Labels & Decorative stickers
  • A Rubber band
  • Newspaper get together lay down some newspaper to protect the surface the children are working on.
Roll out the paper and draw! you can use stickers and glue paper shapes in the pictures with whatever drawing equipment picked and its a great way to keep all of their art together and do something productive on a rainy day!. When you have finished / its dry you can roll it up with an elastic band and store away for another day.

  • Use this as an opportunity for the child to document your days out and events. This will make a great memory item and something to get their point of view.
  • Also have found this to be a great bribe/winding down time so when children say they don't want to leave or go home you can say we have to draw this on our big picture and its great for them after an exciting day.
  • With the plain labels you can stick the name of the child, date and age on the back of the paper so you can distinguish who drew what and when.
  • When you come to the end of the paper roll either tape or glue the beginning of another roll so it will carry on being endless!
Thank you for reading hope it is something you find interesting!
